Yarnstorming

Ever since H and I got a sneak preview, I’ve been waiting to get a glimpse of The Yarn Bomb, an outdoor community art installation at the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art.  Contributors from as far away at China donated works of knitted and crocheted materials, which were then sewn together into larger sections to dress the building.  It was a fascinating exercise in color and texture.

And the Winner Is…

H needed a new pair of aerobic shoes, so we made what I foolishly thought would be a “quick” stop by a local running store to pick up a pair.  I’ve never seen feet studied and measured in so many ways — and so many vibrant colors to choose from.  In the end, a classic black pair made it to the top of the heap.

Just about every “formal” picture Mom took of us was in front of these living room drapes.  This photo records our participation in the church youth choir.  I think our robes have a bit of a tablecloth kind of feel.

When H and I travel (local or otherwise), one of our favorite things to do is to find someplace fun to eat.  We discovered this little pie shop in downtown Duluth.  What a tasty surprise!

The image above shows what H refers to as my NSF, or Napkin Storage Facility.  He and I have very different philosophies on what to use when wiping our hands at a meal.  He’s a paper-napkin kind of guy, but my preference for cloth usually wins out.

I’m not sure what catches my attention first… the fuzzy pink sweater that I’m wearing on a steamy summer day at the beach, or my sun-deprived skin tone.

Words of Wisdom

My mother-in-law M is a very patient woman, especially when it comes to the garden.  She often advises me to “just give it time,” so when I asked M to work her magic on my sickly geranium, I knew that if anyone could bring it back to life, she could.

Guess what?  It’s blooming again.

H and I had a big crowd coming over this morning for brunch… I love family gatherings!

Isn’t she a beauty?  I discovered this huge Black and Yellow Garden Spider just hanging out at the church… but then again, she’s probably pondering her next meal (or mate).
