H’s aunt stitched this beautiful bell pull many years ago.  It’s perfect for welcoming the New Year!

I love poinsettias.  Their huge, velvety leaves and flashy colors take my breath away… and so many varieties!  They are one of my favorite highlights during the Christmas holidays.

Our glazed eyes tell me that Sister L and I have finally reached Christmas morning overload.  On the other hand, Sister S and her Cootie Bug are still raring to go.

I have a Santa collection that my mom started for me ages ago, and I have continued to add to it over the years.  I usually forget about them until Christmas comes around, and then it’s like unwrapping little bits of favorite stories and memories.  I thought I’d share a few with you.

Big Red was a Christmas surprise from Santa and my first introduction to Wild West adventures. Compared to today’s rockers, he (or she) looks like an accident waiting to happen, but I loved that horse.

I stopped by my sister’s last week and noticed these oversized wreaths dangling haphazardly on her fence.  (A week ago I had seen them hanging from the bicycle racks in the garage.)  Before I could give her my unsolicited opinion, she pointed to the bird’s nest snuggled into the top of the greenery.  From the activity in the garage, it was apparent that the wrens had been preparing their winter home.  They’ll just have a different view this year.

Each Christmas, our local farmers’ market offers a huge variety of holiday signage to complement any outdoor décor.  It’s fascinating (and a bit overwhelming) to walk through this array of jumbled wooden signs in all colors, shapes, and sizes, searching for just the right look.
