BEST Gift Ever!

This is Sasha, my “virtual” new best friend. Sasha is part of the Kitty Keeper program at Good Mews, a no-kill cat shelter near our home. The program allows animal lovers like me to sponsor cats that might be difficult to place because of medical or other reasons. H was able to choose any of the felines currently in the program, and he picked Sasha. As my virtual kitty, Sasha sends me a quarterly personal letter with a photo. Who wouldn’t LOVE that! As H likes to say, “It’s a win-win.” I can’t wait for my next update from Sasha (assuming she has time to write)!
On the Job

My husband, proud graduate of an Ivy League school, takes his grammar seriously… and mine, too. He has no trouble correcting me on those rare occasions when my grammar or punctuation goes astray. This coffee mug was a perfect Christmas gift for him.
Fashionable Family Friday: The Vault is Almost Empty

It’s hard to believe that I introduced Fashionable Family Friday (previously known as Frightening Fashion Fridays) five years ago this week. WOW! That’s 260 images of me and my family being silly, looking ridiculous, and just generally having fun. Over the years, I’ve shared the best of my mom’s collection, but the pickins’ are getting slim. With the photo vault almost empty, I’ll be opening up my Friday postings to other topics — but you never know when a treasure from the archives may resurface for you viewing pleasure.
Wrapping It Up

H and I took down all the Christmas decorations on New Year’s Day. It struck me that the main difference between the chaos of pulling everything out to decorate and putting it all away was the feeling at the end — excitement then, closure now.
Checking It Twice

A new year means a new to-do list. H and I have our own traditional start-of-the-year tasks, all duly noted here. I’m happy to report that we accomplished them all.
Fashionable Family Friday: Dressed for the Chill

I bet you can tell from this photo that my sisters and I were not professional figure skaters. Instead, we preferred to focus on our Winter fashion… obviously.
Old-Fashioned Mail

Our mail carrier has been hard at work, delivering cards and packages for the Christmas holiday. I’m glad we’ve moved beyond the days of old, when the mail was delivered by rail.
Merry Christmas

Wishing you a Merry Christmas from our home to yours.
Fashionable Family Friday: Job Well Done

I love how this image tells the story of our Christmas mornings. First there was the initial excitement of seeing evidence that Santa had visited, followed by a flurry of ripping paper and squeals, and finally… downtime after the rush.
The Icon

Even without the full figure, it’s hard to mistake this abstract shape for anything but Santa.
