Walking Into the New Year

H and I started 2016 with a brisk walk in one of the local parks. An app on my phone helped us track the path. It was a lovely day to spend together.
Fashionable Family Friday: Happy New Year!

These homemade wooden snowmen smiled from the front yard and greeted each new year for many, many holiday seasons.
Good for Another Year

On Christmas morning, as we unwrapped gifts with the family, I found myself collecting, smoothing, and folding the patterned tissue paper that otherwise would have been thrown away. I’ll happily use this stash next year. My sister reminded me that Mom used to do the same thing, but went one step further by ironing the creases and wrinkles. I’m not quite there yet.
Quacker

H and I enjoyed several surprises on Christmas morning, including this ceramic duck cleverly hidden behind the bushes in our front yard.
Fashionable Family Friday: At the Roundup

I love this photo of a long-ago Christmas morning, but I’m hoping that horse was a gift for Sister L (the youngest).
Following the Star

This photo of our dining room table reminds me of the events that transpired two millennia ago.
Heavenly Voices

These angelic singers have been in H’s family for over sixty years, ever since his mom bought them for ten cents each at the local five and dime.
Fashionable Family Friday: Choo-Choo!

I look like one happy camper with the train set I got for Christmas. To this day, I still love those tracks and all their possibilities.
Waiting for a Storm

All we need now is a little snow.
Coming to Town

One of our local parks had a Christmas tree lighting ceremony last week. Up close, the ornaments are monumental in size, including this low-hanging Santa. He’s such a sparkly fellow.
