Don’t let those smiles fool you. My father’s company relocated us from Florida to snowy Ohio when I was nine years old. As soon as our school year was up, my mother declared that we were moving back down South, with or without Dad. He arranged a transfer.

There’s quite a bit of restoration happening in Woodstock, including this beautiful old home slated to become a visual arts gallery and artists’ studios. Even in its state of disrepair you can feel the creative potential.

During a weekend visit to Woodstock, Georgia, H and I passed by this shop window filled with a quirky mix of items. I could have sworn she winked at me.

While making our way over the trails, we passed by this tree that had been cut creatively into a rest spot. All of the fungi growing on the bark gave it a lacy and surreal feel.
