Ancient Wisdom

H and I were standing on one of the garden trails at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix when I took this photo. The angle and height give me the feeling of being in council with the elders.
Rolling in Style

Now this is a fun shopping cart. H and I passed by it while at the Chalktoberfest on the Marietta Square this past fall. A part of the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art’s booth, it held all the potential for a crazy creative day.
Fashionable Family Friday: Safety First

Although Sister S was serving as a spotter, I’m not sure she was fully focused on her mission. Good thing I was keeping an eye on things.
Heartfelt

Sending out a little peace and love today.
Extraordinary Woodwork

This beautiful piece of art is actually a cutting board. It was handcrafted by our dear friend R, who knows that my husband loves playing the piano. The piece is made of walnut, hard maple, and ebony veneer, and is satiny smooth to the touch. I’m not sure that I can bring myself to chop veggies on its gorgeous surface.
Fashionable Family Friday: The Lineup

This is one of my all-time favorite photos. Dad (with Mom’s instructions) made those silly snowmen out of plywood, while we kids got to choose colors and help paint. It was a family affair. The jolly creations, which greeted passersby for many years, were repaired and repainted as needed until they finally met their demise. My sisters and I still laugh with delight when anyone mentions the snowmen.
Into the Marsh

The Roswell Riverwalk project is a multi-purpose, seven-mile greenway that runs along the Chattahoochee River. The fourth phase was recently completed and H and I took advantage of the the holiday break to check it out. The boardwalk extends across the water with a marshy tributary branching off to one side while the river flows past the other. It was a perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon enjoying the outdoors.
Quiet as a Whisper

I keep various items in the cupholders of my car… and sometimes they rattle. I don’t really notice the noise, but it drives my husband nuts. Fortunately, this weekend’s holiday presented the perfect opportunity to improve the situation. This fancy noise-canceling pocket was a Christmas gift from H… what we like to call a win-win!
Fashionable Family Friday: ’Twas the Night Before Christmas

Ribbons wrapped around my leg; strands of tinsel pulled from branches; a steady and willful hand confidently resting on the chair — no wonder most of the packages (and tree) were safely secured in the playpen.
Catching Dreams

The Festival of Trees is a lovely tradition of the city of Marietta. Eleven Marietta City Schools decorated live Christmas trees, each with a unique theme. My favorite was this Follow Your Dreams tree from A. L. Burruss Elementary. Adorned with handmade dreamcatchers, it was voted Most Creative.
