My goal this year has been to be an extra good steward of Mother Nature’s wildlife.  With that in mind, I crossed my fingers and planted two milkweed plants in April for any monarch butterflies journeying south.  Not only did we have our first guest this weekend, but a neighboring bumblebee stopped by as well.

Postscript: I recently learned that my bumblebee is actually a carpenter bee.

What gorgeous photos! You should submit the second one to the bumble bee watch (http://wp.me/p4Jv2C-3x) 🙂 I submitted mine but it is not nearly as sharp as yours. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Thanks so much for your kind words! They’re such crazy-looking little creatures with those intricate wings and fuzzy coats. I’ve never heard of the the bumble bee watch… thanks for the link. I’ll check it out.
